Combining traditional and modern day surfboard construction techniques. For the surfer that loves the smooth feel of PU (polyurethane) foam but wants the performance and durability of epoxy resin. EPU-X construction is a traditional PU blank which has the wooden stringer replaced for a "non traditional" PVC stringer, which is glassed using a bio epoxy resin. EPU-X offers a unique glassing schedule that provides surfers with a superior product which performs at the highest level. Epoxy resin on a polyurethane blank with a PVC stringer results in a resilient surfboard construction with a consistent flex pattern. EPU-X boards are smooth but lively under foot, they're lighter, brighter and whiter, which doesn’t yellow to the extent of a traditional PE (Polyester) surfboard.
We use the highest quality blanks on the market that feature incredible flex and spring back, which allows the surfer to maximise their turns. Consistent tight cell structure throughout the blank, with an Optical Brightener and UV inhibitors that keep the whitest blanks on the market that way for longer.
PVC provides a consistent flex pattern when compared to the tradional wooden stinger. It doesn't snap or break as easy as wood and eliminates the main vairiable of how the grain or knots effect the flex pattern of traditional perfromance surfboards.
Carbon fibre is added top and bottom for pop and liveliness. The amount of carbon can be customised to the surfers weight.
We use a “HiClear” “Direct Sized” E-Glass at 45 degrees on the bottom, this technique doubles up the warp strength without adding any additional weight.
Direct Sized means it’s not been heat treated and has a 20% - 30% tensile and flexural strength increase than the standard E-Glass on the market.
Direct Sized S-Glass is used for the decks of the board for the ultimate strength to weight ratios.
EPU-X boards are laminated using a plant based Epoxy resin with a minimum of 21% bio content, this helps reduce our carbon footprint and toxicity during manufacturing. Also from a consumer’s perspective, epoxy resin lasts much longer and extends the life of the board.
EPU-X boards are constructed using the most advanced high performance materials. However this does not prevent the board from breakage or compressions. If any damage does occur, make sure to dry out all water from the PU core before repairing. EPU -X boards can be repaired using either Epoxy or Polyester resin.
It is recommended that you do not leave your board in direct sunlight or in a hot confined space.
